Happy times or after finishing the novel

So I´ve finally finished the novel! I´m happy about that because tomorrow the log must be ready and it wasn´t a book I would read all over (but I had to...:-( ), not because it´s written in english, it´s because I didn´t like how it´s written, how the characters react and because it´s the wrong point of time for me to read a book about love and boys.
People who habe trouble in their life with boys or girls (problems with their "love-life"^^) shouldn´t read the book, because it makes you sad...
I haven´t changed after reading the book, but my negativ thought, that boys really are so stupid things has increased. Why are we (we= girls and women) sometimes so stupid that we love a boy/man??? I don´t know an answer... we should stop it! ;-)
The ending of the novel... I don´t like it so much. Why must it be a happy-ending? It´s so unrealistic! The whole thing with whizzing into the future... It´s impossible and Nick Hornby only wanted to be an author who has a "funny" idea and very creativ...
In the whole book there´s nowhere a very funny or sad scene. It´s all without emotions and therfore no emotions at the reader.
I´m really a bookworm, but the reading of this book was pretty hard for me, because there never happened something which affect me. Only one time I was really sad... it was when all characters were happy... because I wasn´t....

The last chapters- chapter 15-20

In chapter fifteen sam move into Alicias room. The family is complete...mum, dad, son,...

In the sixteenth chapter the night in which Sam was whizzed in is going on a "second" time, but now he feels nice and loves his baby a bit. Alicia and Sam have their first big trouble, because of the baby. Sam thought the baby wasn´t his son, so Alicia was very painful, but they are reconciled.

The seventeenth chapter is about a meeting and talk between Sam and his father and why Sam removes to his mother.

In the eighteenth chapter Sam is afraid that he might have no contact to Roof (the nickname for Rufus) in fifteen years.

In chapter nineteen Sam answers to some questions the reader of the book could ask him. To the question about the relationship with alicia, he told the story about the end of them.

In the twentieth and last chapter Sam is whizzed another time into the future. He has a girlfriend and Alicia a boyfriend. All seems all right :-)

More than half of the novel...

I would like to ask Nick Hornby, why he "gave" Sam so less emotions while the birth of his son, why Alicia gave his son the name of the father (not her own) and why he made Sam so less nice. I tought the main character would be a person in which I can identify myself a bit more, which I´ll like very much, not a hero but a sympatic boy. It made me think that boys haven´t so much emotions, but I don´t like this... :-)
I wondered about the less time Sam´s skating. I thought it is his passion and i would never stop doing my passion (running) or do it less frequently because of someone! If you really have a passion you don´t minimalize it as much as Sam.

Chapter 10-14

In the tenth chapter Alicia and Sam were kissing and Mary (the boyfriend of Sam´s mother) will move in Sam´s flat and live there.

The eleventh chapter is about the current situation. Sam now says Robert and Andrea to Alicia´s parents. Sam will live at Alicia when the baby will be born.

In the twelfth chapter there´s another whizzing into the future. Sam´s eighteen and he should go with his circa two years old son to the doctor. It´s the first time likes his son. I like this scene, but i think he isn´t a good father, because his son gets all he wants.

In the thirteenth chapter is describes how Sam has a slam "while" skating and his mum offered him that she is pregnant. It´s a bit unrealistic that they´re to silly to prevent. His mother for the second time! ( A tip: it´s possible to take the birth control pill.....)

The fourteenth chapter is about the birth of Rufus. The two grand-mothers are discussing which last name is the best. Both want their own... Alicia decides that he´ll get the name of Sam. so he´s calles Rufus Jones. In this scene I missed more emotions of Sam.

In the middle...

I don´t know exactly why, but I don´t like Sam so much. He does so stupid and childish things. The contrary to this feeling is, that I like Alicia more and more.
If i would be the author Sam wouldn´t be so stupid, childish and he would have a nicer character.
Finally I think the author made some things i dond´t like and that´s the cause, why I allways must compel myself to read on.

Chapter 7, 8 and 9

The seventh chapter is about Sams trip to Hastings. ge went to this liettle city, because he doesn´t want to have the future he saw. To go away from home is much more difficult than he thought. But at the end of the chapter he found a job and a room.

In the next chapter (the eighth) his "job", why he went back to his mother and his try to find out if Alicia really is pregnant is described.

In chapter nine are many complicated things for Sam. First of all Alicia says him that she is pregnant and that she don´t want to do an abortion. The second thing is that he must fo with his parents to talk with a family counsellor. And the, I think, biggest problem is the talking with Alicias parents and Sams mother about the pregnancy.

Hard times or chapter 4-6

I started to read the fourth chapter. But after two pages I notices, that I understood nothing, not because of the vocabulary... better explained: I read and I didn´t thought about the things i read about. My thoughts were going to my own relationship and so on. A catastrophy! :-) But now, I´ll try it a second time and I hope my thoughts will stay at the book...
In the fourth chapter the end of the relationship is described. Sam´s was bored with Alicia.

In the fifth chapter Sam´s going sicteen and Alicia is telling him, that he´ll be father.

In the chapter number six, there is a time, which will come a year later and Sam doesn´t know anything of the missed year. He suddenly has a baby, but he doesn´t know how to handle a baby...
He wants his old life back...

The first 3 chapters

In the first chapter Sam is telling about his life and about his situation.
The word "art" caught my eyes, because I really don´t like art. In this point I can´t understand Sam at all. But there are also connections between the book and my life. My parents are splited up and I live at my mum, like Sam. Beside of this, I habe a passion too even if it´s not skating (but also sports) : running long distances! I likewise venerate the best runners of the world (okay, I don´t talk to them,...(I´m not crazy...))Another important thing in Sam´s life is Alicia (there´s also a person in my live who´s as important for me as Alicia for Sam.).
The last sentence of the chapter point out that there´s coming a change. I think it will be nothing good...

In the second chapter his mother is describes and the first meeting from Alicia and Sam. A day after their first meeting they had a date and in the night they had the first time sex (with a condom from Alicias parents... ;-) ).

In the third chapter the life from Sam with having Alicia as girlfriend is going on and it´s delineated how Sam´s mum react. Sam wants to be all the time in the near of Alicia. I thing most of our class know this feeling of passion and love. In the relationship of Alicia and Sam all seems all right, but the felling, that there are coming worse times, comes up.

SLAM-written by Nick Hornby

I´m standing befor another english book. Of course I already read some. There were, I think, two or three we had to read for school, but also two "free" books, which were stories about Miss Marple, which were nearly easy to understand.

Now to Slam:
The title Slam means something like, when you beat someone, you close a door fast and hard or you crush someone or somthing down.

My first glance on the book made me a feeling like the one you have befor you go the first time into the room of a friend. It looks like a modern book which will be good to read and which will affect me.
Then I read the backside of the book and a little story, not complicated, arised in my head. I´ll tell it for you:
A good-looking sixteen years old skater-boy, called Sam have a nice live. He´ll go to a college, he has fun with his friends in his free time, he met a nice and attractive girl, called Alicia and his mother hasn´t anyore his boyfriend, who´s not en vogue by Sam.
But at one time the problems begin, problems which are totally normal for a boy in this older. He slowly gets adult, like all teenagers.

So that was my first impression.
